a winter rose from my garden

sending you all manner of good things today. here’s a flower, for a start. glowing with colour and hope on the darkest of winter days.

just like You, dear reader. whether you are a blogger whose journey and comments inspired my own early days, or another who has joined the good fight more recently. whether you are someone whom I have had the privilege of getting to know better by email, or by meeting, or whether you are someone who reads, and never or hardly ever comments – this flower is for You.

I am having an enormous surge of gratitude in celebrating my 400 days along with the deeply fabulous Sharon at soberatsixty who has 500 under her belt! yippee! we’re having no-jitos. you’re welcome to join us?

Recipe here incomprehensibly fails to mention that whilst serenely muddling your no-jito it is essential to think fruity thoughts about Mr Johnny Depp 😉 also you can use lemonade instead of soda if you prefer (I do).

do you have your glass in hand? hurrah! well, I would like to propose a toast to what is probably the biggest change for me in the last 400 days – which is that nowadays I actually like who I am. and achieving that is due in no small measure to the power of the unconditional and uncritical acceptance I have found here.

after I have felt myself scared and alone for so long, you have given me a place where I belong, and I am so grateful.

‘This is the bright home
in which I live,
this is where I ask
my friends to come,
this is where I want
to love all the things
it has taken me so long
to learn to love.

This is the temple
of my adult aloneness
and I belong to that aloneness
as I belong to my life.

There is no house
like the house of belonging.’

from ‘The House of Belonging ‘ by David Whyte.

onward to 500 days! love, flowers, poetry and no-jitos all round! Prim xx
